Mekeya’s approach to counseling is grounded in creating a supportive and collaborative alliance that recognizes your unique strength and challenges. She is passionate about empowering you to take the lead to enact change. She draws from evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She works through a client-centered, strength-based, and holistic perspective. At times, we get caught up by unhelpful coping strategies. Mekeya would like to help you gain insight to these patterns and develop new ways to address challenges that allows you to live inline with your values.
Clients are empowered to see progress as they address a variety of challenges that range from Acute stress disorder, ADHD, anger management, anxiety, body dysmorphia, depression, divorce, domestic violence, eating disorder, grief and loss, identity issues, OCD, OCPD, parenting, PTSD, relationships, sexual orientation, suicidal ideation to other life stressors.
Mekeya utilizes evidence based feedback informed treatment to establish a strong therapeutic alliance and incorporates the client's values and preferences. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, complex trauma and OCD symptoms.
